Question

Scared previous ectopic

Hi
I have had my bfp, I'm am now 32 days pregnant????
Although I am very scared, I had a chemical pregnancy Christmas just gone, previous to that oct 2011 had an ectopic and had my tube and ovary removed. I'm just really scared, doctor says I can't have an early scan until around 8 to 10 weeks, just need reassurance and if anyone else had experienced this or similar.

Congratulations on your BFP! When you say 32 days pregnant, do you mean 32 days after your last period started? On an internal vaginal ultrasound, the earliest you will see a gestational sac is 34 days after your LMP started and the usual time you will see one is 37/38 days after your LMP started. So if you were to have a scan say next week you might see a sac or you might not. It depends on if you ovulated exactly when "normal" women do as well. So if you don't have any pain or bleeding you would be better off waiting till about 8 weeks for a scan. I know it's hard not to worry but if you had a scan now and it was a little to early and they couldn't see anything that would just worry you more. Enjoy being pregnant and before long you'll be able to have a scan and by then you should see a heartbeat! Happy and Healthy 9 months Xx :)

im in a very similar position and only a few days behind you. i had an ectopic in september 2014 and left tube removed and now i am 4.5 weeks pregnant (on day 32 of my cycle since last menstrual period today). i requested an ultrasound now because im scared but the doctor refused and said that typically after previous ectopics they do ultrasounds at 6 weeks. by then there should be a sac and baby visible. the only time they will do earlier is if there are obvious signs like the sharp side pains or spotting. i had light spotting but not enough to warrant concern. i also had sharp pains but he said the location doesnt seem to be related to the pregnancy. i know its a tough wait and im right here with you! but if i were you, id request an ultrasound at 6 weeks. i never heard of anyone waiting until 8 weeks after a prior history of ectopic. keep me updated! im just as scared as you :(
