Spotting after sex??

We are TTC #2! I thought I was pregnant this last cycle but I did end up having a "weird" period. It was 1 day late (I know exact ovulation; get cramps) and I am never late. But then it started the middle of the day, and it was light brown/pink discharge. The next day it turned into a mucus/blood. That lasted two days. So my whole period was shorter than normal and not as heavy nor accompanied by usual severe cramps. Then my period was done and on Wednesday had almost unnoticeable brown/pink discharge for a few hours in morning. That night DH and I did BD and about 20 min later I started spotting. NEVER had spotting after sex before. Is that normal? Anyone else have this and what did it turn out to be?
