I want to start temping and overwhelmed with too much info. Can somebody dumb it down for me?
Like what kind of thermometers are good, where to get them, how much to expect them to cost. Best resources for charting - I see Fertility Friend bandied around a lot. Best place (oral, vaginal) to take the temperature. All that kind of good stuff. I've googled, but I'm suffering from information overload and can't figure out how best to begin.
Thanks!

Hi! I started temping in 2012 when trying to conceive my 1st. There is definitely a lot of info out there and can be confusing! I would recommend keeping it simple and just start with an oral temp at the same time every morning - get a BBT thermometer at the pharmacy (usually in 'family planning' section - where you find ov tests or HPTs). Keep it on your bedside table and try to take you temp every morning at the same time without moving around/getting up before hand. I have used Fertility Friend but I actually prefer the format on here to record it. You're looking for a temp rise to indicate ovulation - temps will rise after ovulation and stay up if prego - go back down before AF arrives. Really the only way to know if you are ovulating. I used OPKs for a couple months to get a better idea of my fertile period. GL!
