Help!! Need advise

I am on cycle day 41. PCOS. TTC 17mnths......
This cycle i stopped taking my metformin because it made me feel so horrible. I started acupuncture, every other week.
Well here I am at 41 days. Somewhere around 28 day I had slight pink spotting. Ive had lots of CM from 28 days to now. Acupuncturist thought AF was coming and said my pulse was slippery indicating that it might come.
Starting yesterday I had horrible cramps and lower back pain and some brown spotting, thinking AF is coming, then nothing. Around lunch today a little more spotting, but no cramping. I am hungry, tired, grumpy/emotional.
My hormones must be all over the place.
Anyone any ideas? I see my GYN on Thursday to gel lab work. I am assuming metformin needs to be started again. Just don't know. Could I have ovulated late or did I just skip a period? bleeding from ovarian cyst?
