Question

Vitamins and TTC

My husband and I are trying to conceive our 2nd. When ttc my son, I was taking a number of supplements, but I didn't keep a list of them. We are now going on 6 months of trying without positive results...
Here is what I am taking:

B-12 1000 mg
Vitamin E
Vitamin C 500 mg
Folic Acid 2mg
Prenatal Vitamin + DHA

My cycle should be starting today or tomorrow, and if it does I will be scheduling with my doctor. But if anyone has any info about vitamins/supplements and fertility, please share.

Why are you taking B-12? Do you have a deficiency? B12 is actually really easy to OD on, so you need to be careful how much you're taking. Most people don't take the supplement unless they have had weight loss surgery, or are elite gym rats or elite athletes. Be careful with that one.

As far as what I took when TTC my first daughter:

Pre-Natal +DHA ( I chose the viita fusion gummy ones, because they also had the Folic Acid I needed) - 2 gummies once a day)
Folic Acid (Some prenatal's have it in them, not all do so read the label)
Iron (I have "white people" Sickle Cell Anemia so I always take this, but it does help by OB said)
Vitamin C (Depending on the time of year and your immune system strength)

This will sound really weird, but I also used Mucinex to help thin out my CM once I hit my fertile window.( It helps thin out mucus in your entire body, not just when you're sick)

U cant overdose on B12, its water-soluble...u pee out the excess! Not sure where u got that info.

Assuming the 1000mg B12 is supposed to be mcg, ur list looks good to me. Add D3 to the mix, 2000IU/day.
Good luck! =))

I am starting to get paranoid that the supplements I am taking are screwing up my body and i am considering stopping everything but my folic acid and prenatal. There has to be another factor preventing my BHP. It was not the timing this cycle -- we DTD every day from CD9 to CD15, with a positive OPK on day 13.

I dont think its the supps doing it, I wouldnt stop them, but thats ur call.
It can take much longer than 6 months to conceive, the healthiest of women can take a year or more, with zero fertility issues. U can do everything perfect, but at the end of the day, u cant make the egg implant. Timing isnt the only factor involved. Keep trying!!
