Your fertile time is before ovulation or rupture of the egg. It is best to time intercourse for five days before and including the day of ovulation and for the day or two after if you can because that way there will be sperm waiting in case you ovulate a little earlier or later than predicted. It is very difficult to pinpoint the exact time the egg actually ruptures. Also sperm needs to go through a process called capacitation which happens inside the woman before it is capable of fertilising the egg which can take up to 10 hours so intercourse needs to happen before the egg ruptures for the sperm to be ready. If your own cervical mucus changes to a texture like that of egg white it is a very good sign that your body is preparing to ovulate so listen to your body an have intercourse when this happens to you. Good luck. :)
