Testing too early?

I usually have 28-29 day cycles. I couldn't have sworn my period was coming on cd28 with all the cramps I was getting. But I have still yet to seen af. I tested on the day after my expected period, which was yesterday, and it was BFN. Since cd28 I have not really had anymore cramping! It also look like I had a very small amount of brown discharge in my panty liner 2 days ago. I have not tested again and was wandering when I should test again to get an accurate result! Thanks ladies!
