Ovulation test getting lighter not darker...

I came on my period on the 20th November 2014 and I finished on the 25th November. I recently got some ovulation strip tests and it's my first time using them. I took a test on the 28th November and the test line was a bit dark but not as dark as the control line and then I took another the next day and the line was even lighter then again I took another today this morning then again this evening and each time the line has got lighter and now it's almost not there. I thought the line was supposed to get darker nearer ovulation? I worked out i THINK I should be ovulating next week but is it possible I could have ovulated earlier this week?
I had surgery in June to remove an ovarian cyst and I only have part of my left or and my right one has been removed, could this affect it at all?
