Question

What to do now?

After a full year of ttc with no success, what should I do next? See my obgyn or go to a fertility clinic? with or without my husband?

After a full year of trying and getting the timing right I would see the OB/GYN or fertility specialist depending on what kind of insurance coverage you have. If you are in your 30s I would go straight to a fertility specialist. Take your husband along as he might need to answer some questions and will possibly be asked to have a semen analysis done. Try to find a reproductive endocrinologist that comes recommended; there are lots of drs out there and they are not all equally good. Best wishes and the Lord's blessings.

After a year of being unsuccessful you usually start with your regular ob. If you are over 35, they say you should only try for 6 months before moving on to getting help. There are some easy tests your regular ob can run to rule out the more common issues on you and your dh. They usually will start you with clomid first to help if you aren't ovulating or to insure that you are ovulating each month. They don't usually refer you to a specialist unless they find a bigger problem right off the bat or after a couple months of trying common fertility meds with no success.

I agree with previous post but have to say that many OB/GYNs are extremely busy and deal with fertility issues only on the side. If your insurance (PPO) allows you to see a fertility specialist right away without a referral it is up to you for consideration where to go first. I know off hand women that wasted precious months trying to work with their OB/GYNs on fertility related issues. But it is really your call. Best wishes.

Let me help you... not that I was TTC for very long.. only for about a month or two.. but I did this and also referred another lady on this website and she is now pregnant as well so it can't hurt to atleast try it.. Take mucinex the entire week of your fertile window until a few days after your ovulation.. Only use the mucinez that has the active ingredient "Guafisen".. I got the Walgreen's brand of mucinex (comes in a blue/white bottle).. BD every other day and the day of ovulation and even a few days after... Good luck!

I forgot to include that this thins your CM and allows swimmers to swim better.
