Pcos?
Hi, I know it's a question for my doctor but I was wondering about some symptoms of pcos. Currently we have been ttc for 7 months. I have regular 23 day cycles and I confirm ovulation with opk's. I am wondering if it's possible to have pcos even with regular cycles and confirmed ovulation every month. I do not have weight issues or acne. I get a pimple on my chin every time I ovulate but that's it. My only concern is that I do have some dark hairs around my belly button, nipples and the odd one on my chest. Does this sound like something worth asking the doctor about or am I just overly sensitive to finding reasons why it is taking so long to make a baby?
Thanks!

Since you have regular cycles and your ovulate every month, it may not be PCOS, but with the black hair around the belly button, nipples etc your body could be producing to much testosterone, DHEA and/or androgen. All are male hormones, which the women's body does produce but is smaller quantities. Some women, produce more than they should (hence the black hair where they don't belong). Have your doc do a complete blood panel, including male hormones.

I have PCOS and when I first suspected it, my Dr. acted like I was crazy. Years down the line I was actually diagnosed with PCOS (by a different Dr.). I am also TTC for almost a year. I am taking a scheduled dosage of various hormones to support my body with getting pregnant and holding it. I would recommend that you make an appointment with your OBGYN and discuss your concerns with TTC and see what advice they give you. I agree that getting a blood test with all of your hormone levels tested would be the best idea. You can also get a sperm test for your man to cover all of your bases. Good luck!

I was told by my doctor years ago that I probably have pcos, but they never did anything about it. After trying for a baby for 7 months I decided to make a special visit with my doctor. I told her I was concerned that I have pcos and I think it may be the reason why I'm not getting pregnant. Even though we had not been trying for 12 months yet, she did not hesitate to test my hormone levels and give me an ultrasound to see if I had cysts on my ovaries. Now my endocrinologist is putting me on metformin to help me ovulate. I think that because you have been trying 7 months, and if you tell them you are concerned about pcos, maybe they will make a little more of an an effort like my doctor did. Good luck to you!

Thanks for the information everyone. I guess what I am really wondering is the likelihood of pcos given that I only have one symptom out of the many possible symptoms? Has that happened to anyone on here?
I'm going to give it 2 more cycles before seeing the doctor... Which shouldn't take too long given they are 23 day cycles :)
