Question

Fertility Specialist Time Line ...

Hello :0) I a going to my first fertility specialist appointment on Tuesday and although I know it is different for everyone depending on what issues they find if any, but I would like to hear from others. How long did it take from your initial visit with a fertility specialist before you began using any type of fertility aid? We are trying to figure out our odds of being able to get to that point before my DH deployment.

The time line depends on what type of treatment one will start with.

Time intercourse with meds, no waiting. IUI and IVFs depended on how busy the clinic was. I'm lucky, I never waited, I called in cd1 and always got a "calendar" for that cycle (calendar= u/s schedule, meds etc). Good luck :)

2008 - Laparoscopy for endometriosis 4 years of TTC (I suspect endo is back due to symptoms but no doctor will beleive me) July 2012: referred to Fertility Clinic August 2012: Test results are back High FSH, Low AFC (could be caused by endo) As I though, the endometriosis is back (take that doctors, I was right, you were wrong) Male factor (perfect count, they are just too stubborn and too lazy to swim properly, LOLL) August 2012: Moving on to IVF

It was about 4 months from the time I first met with my RE to the start of an actual monitored cycle. It took a couple months to go through all the blood work, ultrasounds, hsg and more testing for me and my dh. I did 6 rounds of clomid at my regular ob but the RE wanted to try 1 more with an ultrasound follicle study so that was month 4. 5 months after the first consult I got into my first iui. A little over a year after my first appt I started ivf after 4 failed iui's. It took about 2 months to get all the paperwork, pre-req testing and payments all situated for ivf. Really depends on what you are doing but I would say you are looking at a 2-4 month wait before actually being able to start.
