How soon you can start with fertility medications (if needed) depends on what kinds of tests or treatments you and your husband might need and whether you have had some of those tests done already. We were able to start medications the cycle following the first visit with my RE. We did the HSG test a couple of months later just to make sure everything was fine there. Some drs want to get all the testing done beforehand but again it all depends on your specific case, problem, and on your dr's preferences. When does your husband deploy? If he will be gone for an extended amount of time during which you would like to TTC you can have several sperm samples frozen through an andrology lab and then use them for IUI if this is an option for you. My primary care doc ran all of the blood work and seaman analysis before sending me to the OB clinic. After my first visit with there it was a month before they could get me in for HSG. I did that yesterday and started my first round of clomid today. I'm an active duty member and understand how much military life can sometime interfere with TTC. Good Luck!
