Question

Positive fr dip, negative FRER in stream ..

Hi all!

My husband and I are ttc #1 - this is our second month. We had positive OPK late Saturday night 1 November.
Period was due 15th November but hasn't come. Light spotting but only 4-5 drops. CM still creamy and many other symptoms - dizziness, sore breasts, bleeding gums, exhaustion.
Had negative HPT every day for a week before and on the day of period and bought a pack of First Response Dips today. 4 hour hold urine, all had immediate dark positives that fades but remained pink though VERY FAINT.
Took an instream First Response Early Result this afternoon on no hold urine and it was 100% negative.
Is there a reason dips would be positive? Really don't want to get my hopes up. Seems like FRER in stream are trustworthy so maybe dips are faulty?
Any thoughts/ advice/ experiences welcome! Thank you xx

A real positive won't be dark first and then fade quickly, that sounds more like the dye moving across the test (on some tests the dye will settle briefly in the indent created by the hcg test strip, then finish moving across the test creating that fading effect - tests with significant indents can even have a very small amount of dye settle there permanently). And if you're 2 days late for your period you shouldn't need to hold your urine to get a positive result (unless you're urine is extremely dilute). You may have ovulated a couple days after your positive opk, so you may be testing earlier than you think - I would test again in a day or two with fmu, hoping for a positive for you!
