Question

Is my progrsterone level good? I got tested at 7 dpo...Help!

I just got my blood test back and it says my progesterone at 7 dpo was 32.8 is that good? It also shows prolactin 248, thyroid 1.16 and Thyroid antibodies under 10. I have hypothyroidism and last cycle was having random spotting during my cycle that's why I did the blood test. Still haven't been able to get pregnant. Getting a bit sad, that we can't figure out what's wrong and why we haven't gotten pregnant yet. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!! Baby dust!

What was the unit of measurement for the prolactin level? Normal ranges for non-pregnant women are roughly between 2-29ng/mL. Pregnant or breastfeeding women have higher levels. Maybe the high levels are related to the hypothyroidism. Not sure if it is what is causing issues, but you may want to talk to the doctor about it.

It was miU/ liter. I am living in Europe, maybe that's why the numbers are different. But it's in normal range for non pregnant.

Progesterone does not measure pregnancy only if you ovulated. The numbers normally peak around 7dpo so that is why you take the test. Obviously if you are pregnant the level increases further for those with no progesterone defficiencies. There are a couple of problems with this test. First is the assumption that the woman ovulated 7 days ago, it really is only a best guess, Ovulation surge tests only indicate that an egg or eggs will release in the next 24-48 hours, this makes it very difficult to know exactly when you ovulated. This is still the case if you triggered (used HCG shot) to induce ovulation... although the normal time frame is around 36 hours later, women can ovulate anywhere from 12 hours to 4-5 days later than the shot. So this means that the signs of ovulation (pain, twinges, CM, tests) can misinterpret the signs of ovulation, this means you may be a day off, which will effect the progesterone result. Another issue is that different places use different measuring scale

further to the last post. Different countries use different measuring scales for progesterone testing. When women look online to see if their result is normal they often mistakenly compare it to someone who has been tested on a different scale. That is why it is important to know which of the international scales your doctor has used.
Possible interpretation of results assuming the test is properly timed are:

1. Progesterone > 30nmol/l â?? ovulation has occurred and the corpus luteum is producing sufficient progesterone to induce adequate secretory changes in the endometrium to assist implantation.
2. Progesterone 3-30 nmol/l â?? ovulation has occurred > 10 days ago or < 5 days ago, or if ovulation did occurr 5-10 days ago, the level is probably not adequate to sustain endometrial growth for satisfactory implantation.
3. Progesterone >120 nmol/l â?? two or more follicles have been recruited
4. Progesterone < 3nmol/l â?? no ovulation in p
