Question

How long do I need to worry about a chemical pregnancy?

The past two cycles have ended in chemical pregnancies, and this morning (14 DPO), I got a very strong positive, much stronger then I ever got when I was pregnant the other two times, but I'm still having some cramping and I'm so nervous that I'm going to lose this one too. I know that a miscarriage is possible really at any point, but is there a certain DPO that I can figure that I'm past having to worry about a chemical pregnancy?

Usually until there's a heartbeat, you're at greater risk. I know what I'm talking about. Had 4 mc in the past year. All before week 6. For me, that's my marker : 6 weeks. I know it's hard and I feel for you. I just got my BFP at 9DPO and trying not to think too much of it. Hopefully we'll get some sticky babies! :)

Usually, a chemical pregnancies occurs at the time your period would come normally. A chemical pregnancy is when the pregnancy is unhealthy or implanted properly, and your body flushes it out with your next cycle. It's ok to feel a bit more secure if you're already past that point. However, as MarieClaude said, you are at a greater risk for early miscarriage (not chemical pregnancy) before you hear the heart beat. I found online that once you hear the heart beat at around 6-8 weeks, your chance for miscarriage drops to about .5 - 1%.

I also wanted to let you know that I had several miscarriages and chemical pregnancies before this BFP, so I was extremely nervous when I started cramping. It felt just like AF, and I even had some spotting. But it's totally normal! And I'm now 15 weeks along!

Hitting the 2nd trimester is when your chances for having a miscarriage really drops low. GL and I hope all goes well with this pregnancy!!!!

Sorry, my answer should say that a chemical pregnancy is when an embryo implants IMPROPERLY. Technically, a chemical pregnancy is considered a chemical pregnancy only before 5 weeks. So as I said before, if you've already missed your period, it's a lot less likely.
