Can blood test negative result be wrong due to medications taken?
AF is 6 days late, and counting. My average cycle is 25 days, longest cycle before now was 29 days, which has only happened twice in 4 years, and today is CD 31. Still no AF, no signs of AF arrival, 4 hpts with negative results, one doctor urine negative, and yesterday blood quantitative negative. I was researching online, and found on About Health that it said certain medications can either increasend or decrease hcg levels, even for blood tests, giving false negative results. One medication mentioned was "Promethazine, used as an antihistamine in combination cough and cold products". I have been sick all month, and was put on Promethazine with Codeine, and took it on a regular basis all month! Now I am still waiting for AF to arrive or a positive test result. Is there any accuracy to the information I found? Could this be why I am confused not knowing what is going on, uncertain as to whether or not I am pregnant or if there is a bigger issue at hand? I would really love to

I wouldn't take any antihistamine or codiene when you are pregnant as both can stop conception. Have you been ttc very long, because both of these could be stopping you from getting pregnant? How bad is your hayfever can you just use a saltwater nasal spray and paracetamol instead? Plus being sick can delay conception and your period. My doctor does blood tests after you are 7 days late for pregnancy because if no AF you can't be sure of yes/no ;)

I haven't taken the cough medication for about a week or so now, don't really remember when I last took it for sure. I will be 7 days late tomorrow. Been communicating with my doctor on a regular basis. When my blood test came back negative, she told me I can test with hot fmu daily, and repeat blood test in a week if still no AF. I took cough medicine for a week to a week and a half. My boyfriend is convinced we are pregnant and the results just aren't showing yet. He says I have a different "aura" I guess. I am still undecided, just hoping to know what is going on soon.
