Possible to get pregnant with LP of 8 days?
I've been breastfeeding my daughter for almost 20 months and would like to get pregnant with #2. I started bbt charting in May and got my first postpartum period in August. Since then I have been charting and using OPKs. Both are indicating I'm ovulating. My luteal phase has consistantly been 8 days, but I'm wondering if this is long enough to get pregnant.

Wait a couple of months before adding progesterone supplements. Your body needs time to adjust the luteal phase to a normal range after breastfeeding. You can encourage lengthening of the lp with excellent nutrition and vit B6 supplements taken in a B complex. Best wishes and the Lord's blessings.

I probably should have added that when I got pregnant with my daughter I only had an 8 day LP. Is it possible that this is just normal for me and wouldn't cause difficulty getting pregnant? It took 6 months of ttc with my daughter. Any help would be much appreciated! Thanks ladies!!

That's amazing that you conceived with a lp of of only 8 days. My lp is 10-11 days which is already on the short side. My dr is not concerned about the length of my lp in particular. I don't know what he would say about a 8 day lp. But you got pregnant with it before, so that's reassuring. Nevertheless, I would try vit B6 and nutrition to improve the situation. Marilyn Shannon describes in her book "Fertility, Cycles, and Nutrition" how to best influence short lps with nutrition and supplements. If all fails and you feel you aren't getting pregnant because of the short lp I would see a dr for advice and possibly progesterone supplements. All the best.
