Low Progesterone Level at 3w5d, help :(
I went for my first blood draw at 3w5d pregnant (Thursday). My hcg was 63 and my progesterone was 6.320.. I went back 4w2d preg on Monday and they only tested my hcg which went up to 395.. My doctor said that the prog was pretty low but didn't really seem overly concerned like I was. Which has me concerned bc it needs to be at least 14. I called and they are putting me on progesterone 200mg orally twice a day but the medication came to over $250 and I have insurance!!! Are there any alternatives or is this pretty normal? Any one else experience low prog level and have a successful pregnancy? I am just so afraid to have an mc. & this is our first so this is all so new to us!

They are right. For first trimester they give progestrone supplement. This hormones is necessary if it is less then can have some problem with fetus. Just to avoid miscarriage due to progestrone this supplement is given. Be positive. Everything will be fine. Enjoy ur pregnancy. Congrats.

You need sufficient progesterone to sustain a pregnancy, if you don't then your body will shed its uterine lining and therefore you will lose the baby, It will NOT cause problems with a fetus!!! And it doesn't matter how many children you have had if you have low P4 you just need to supplement it, its no big deal. Most children conceived through fertility treatments wether it be Clomid or IVF most women go on the P4 supplement as a precaution. At least you are aware and are treating it.
