Question

How helpful is the HSG dye test with fertility? Anyone gotten pregnant shortly after/heard of this?

I am on day 15 of my cycle today. Day 11, last Thursday I experienced my first dye test. It was unbelievably painful, but I was told it can be therapeutic on the tubes and fertility. My left tube had some trouble with flow, but with some pressure from the doc he was able to open it up and I was told I'm now good on both sides. I have irregular fertility, timing my ovulation is extremely difficult. My app (which I know isn't the most reliable, but all I have really) says I ovulated 2 days ago. I have extremely sore breasts today, but putting that aside because I'm one of those who thinks every possible symptom I have means this is it! LOL. Could anyone give me any advice?!

I have heard of women getting pregnant within the first three months of the HSG test especially if an oil-based dye was used. I had 3 of those tests in the last 25 years. Unfortunately, I did not become pregnant the following months after the tests. Best wishes and the Lord's blessings.

I had mine done in May '13 and got my BFP on my October '13 cycle. For me, the HSG did nothing more than clean out tube snot and cause me to lose a cycle of trying, it really messed up my cycle, it was 42 days and my norm was 29ish. Hopefully it works for u tho.
Good luck! =))

Depending on what the problem is with your fertility an HSG can either help a lot or not help much at all. It is good to have done because it does diagnose (and often fix) blockages in the tubes, as you saw, but if the problem goes beyond the tubes (such as thin lining or anovulation) it won't increase fertility. I had an HSG done and did not get pregnant quickly because the problem was my uterine lining. I hope it works out for you soon! GL!

I had my IUD removed October 2012 after 5 years. I could not get a new one inserted because they said I needed to let a cycle or two pass because my cervix was too tight. I started having painful ovarian cysts on my left ovaries. Dealt with those for a couple months...my doc recommended having another IUD inserted. I did that March 2013. From then until Sept 2013 I had irregular bleeding (2-3 times a week) and decided I wanted to try again and wanted NOTHING to do with the IUD again. For the past 13 months I have been watching my cycles, flow etc...I've been having more regular cycles the past 4 or so months, but still no fertility. I should be pregnant by now lol. There hasn't really been a certain diagnosis as to why I'm having issues yet.

When my hsg was done the first cycle after was 47 days, second was 33 days, now on CD 6 on 50mg clomid, the hsg did nothing more than clean out the gunk and made me go through 10 tests in the 47 day cycle! Start ultrasounds and blood work the 31st!

@BrookeC what type of blood work and sonograms would be done? You mean the 31st of this month? I am sorry you had no luck, I appreciate the responses from all of you!!
