It took about 2 months after my period returned for me to actually start ovulating - my prolactin levels were still really high. It took me another 6 months after that to get pregnant. Sadly, I'm still waiting on a pregnancy that results in baby #2 (but that has nothing to do with breastfeeding or ovulation).

It took me 3 months to get normal cycles back after breast feeding. Since then it has been 18 months of TTC for us - without success so far. Best wishes and the Lord's blessings.

My period was regular on 2nd baby's birthday, breastfed a year with each baby. Each woman is different.

I'm sorry I meant when he turned two months (not two years), so I was breastfeeding and having period.

I'm still nursing my 19 month old between 2-4 times a day. I got my first period when she was almost 17 months. I ovulated for the first time after my first period but my cycle was 5 days longer than normal. Last month I was back to my regular 28 days cycle just like before I got pregnant with my daughter. This month seems to be on track for a 28 days cycle again with regular ovulation. Hoping this will be my month! Good luck to you!
