Question

Feeling defeated. TTC for 12 cycles after ectopic.

Could it take twice as long as healthy couples since I only have one tube? Do you have any advice for me? Do you have a positive story of encouragement with a similar situation?

Wow, I could have written this myself. I too had an ectopic and had my left tube removed. With both pregnancies we got pregnant on the first try. Now, it's been at least 3 cycles and NOTHING. Doc said that I shouldn't have any problem conceiving after my surgery, but I didn't believe her. So I'm in the same boat as you... TTC after an ectopic is HARD! And because we've only got one tube, it means that if you ovulate on the side without a tube, then the sperm can't get to the egg because there is no tube for it to travel up to meet the egg... correct? At least that's how I see it.

My doc said the other tube can "pick up" eggs from the side without a tube but that makes no sense. So yes I think you are correct. I believe she may have said that bc I cried for 36 hours while at the hospital!

I had ectopic in Jan and lost my right tube. I did not get my cycle back until March. We started trying again in March still no luck. I am like you. It was hard enough for me to get pregnant to start with now seems like it will be even harder. I wish all of us the best of luck and LOTS and LOTS of Baby Dust to everyone.
