Question

Has anyone heard of the "cold womb" theory?

I've read about the Chinese medical theories, and some acupuncturists will actually tell you about it. The theory is, is that the womb is too cold for an egg to implant. There's tips like using heating pads on your stomach, or placing a warm water bottle on your uterus area. I've been doing this, now, since my O-day, and I've also been keeping my feet warm.

Has anyone heard of this, tried it, and received the BFP we've all been waiting for?

Oh, I've also been avoiding eating cold foods, and drinking cold drinks. Anything to make the stomach or uterus cold has been tossed out the window during this time. I suspect that I'm 7 dpo, but I didn't use OPK's this time, so I'm not 100% certain.

Never heard of this but it sounds ridiculous. If women's wombs are "too cold to implant" then how does anyone get pregnant? The uterus is roughly the same temperature as the inside of most women's bodies, around 98 degrees. It is also not connected to the stomach, and food/drinks you ingest quickly match your internal temperature anyway.

I agree you need to keep your feet warm cos your ovaries are linked to the heels of your feet x

I haven't heard of such things I have heard this about women. The temp change on a mans balls can have that effect. if it switches from cold to warm quickly it can kill of good sperm.

I apologize, I meant SOME women's wombs are too cold to implant. It's just a theory that Chinese medicine and acupuncturists turn to when unexplained infertility comes in to question. I've spent the better portion of the night researching it. Some women swear by it, others are like us. Dumbfounded by the mechanics. Really, it's probably just one of those wacky things women do to give them hope. It can be connected to the metabolism and creation of energy, so maybe that's where the theory first initially began.

Tottie, that's what I've gotten out of it. Warming the feet improves circulation to the lower half of the body, dilating the blood vessels, and increasing blood flow to reproductive organs. This one makes sense to me. It's also relaxing, and anything to help relax during the TWW is something I won't pass up. d:

I have been seeing an excellent acupuncturist who tells me that increasing blood flow to the ovaries/uterus area via acupuncture needles and heat is very beneficial (especially also for older women TTC). Blood circulation in those areas decreases when getting older and can be improved with stimulation. I have been using castor oil packs at home to further achieve this goal. One noticeable outcome is that I have been able to successfully "shrink" cysts from previous medicated cycles with this method (applying heat and castor oil) to these areas. Based on my experiences in the past 5 months heat combined with castor oil and /or acupuncture works to improve fertility. Note: Do not use castor oil packs after ovulation as it could be harmful during the TWW when TTC! Best wishes and the Lord's blessings.
