Spotting during ovulation, is this normal?
Hi all
I have been off birth control since March and my cycles have returned to normal since June /July although the cycle days might differ each month by a few days.
According to my charts I should ovulate today or tomorrow but for the first time I am spotting slightly. is this normal?? I have never had this and I hope it is not another obstacle that I need to overcome to have my body return to normal after bc.
Any info will be highly appreciated.

Ovulation spotting is generally considered a really good sign of a super fertile cycle - the theory being that you spot because your estrogen drops so rapidly from a great high level after your LH surge. This estrogen drop is what causes the spotting that some people sometimes experience (the spotting doesn't comes from the actual egg rupturing from the follicle). Good luck!

There are actually two theories in regards to ovulation spotting, one being the sudden drop in estrogen causing some of the lining to slough off, as mentioned previously, the other being the stretching and rupturing of the follicle. Neither have been proven but they are both possible. A third one, which doesnt seem to be as popular, is that the cervix bleeds due to a drop in estrogen. In any case, its supposed to be a great sign of fertility...not sure if it is tho, I never got preg on my 3 O spotting cycles.
Good luck! =))
