Question

Can you ovulate and conceive when periods alternate months?

I had two periods in July, (about a week apart) which my doctor said was probably due to taking an extra birth control pill in one day by mistake. I stopped birth control when the second period started in July - planned on stopping in August anyway in hopes of conceiving. I did not get a period in August. I did, however, start a period on September 1st. My husband and I also started trying to conceive on this day, September 1st. It is now October 9th and I have not had a period yet. I've gotten two negative home pregnancy tests and a negative blood test from the doctor. I know it can take a couple of months or longer for menstrual cycles to become "normal" again after getting off of the pill but is it normal to alternate months? Can you ovulate and conceive when periods are hit or miss for a few months? I took an ovulation test today and it was two strong lines. Should I trust that I am ovulating now and it's the best time to conceive?

If you are getting positive opks this is a good sign. Some women ovulate every second month and get pregnant, so you will have a chance. You need to give it 6 months of trying though, we are all so keen to get pregnant we expect it instantly. You could also try drinking red clover tea/capsules to make your cycle regular or it should come back soon on its own
