Question

Just an update...

For those helping me decipher my cycle during the days between ov and af, I'm currently stuck in the red tape of my dr having to get a progesterone cream Rx pre-approved, which will likely take until next week. I did actually start a full flow af today, which is 14 dpo, so my luteal phase doesn't seem to be short, after all. However, the spotting since 5 dpo is obviously going to make implantation pretty impossible. I'm supposed to start the cream on cd 1, but since it'll be next week before I can even know if my dr can get my insurance to cover it, that's not going to happen this cycle. So, I may not even be able to ttc until next cycle when I'll (hopefully) have the progesterone cream. I'm frustrated, but just trying to hang in there and hoping the insurance company will at least eventually cover the Rx. Thanks again for the suggestions to be more persistent about getting help for the problems I'm having.

You do not start progesterone on CD1... you start aprox 3 days after O has been confirmed. Progesterone prevents ovulation and is only present in your body after ovulation.

2008 - Laparoscopy for endometriosis 4 years of TTC (I suspect endo is back due to symptoms but no doctor will beleive me) July 2012: referred to Fertility Clinic August 2012: Test results are back High FSH, Low AFC (could be caused by endo) As I though, the endometriosis is back (take that doctors, I was right, you were wrong) Male factor (perfect count, they are just too stubborn and too lazy to swim properly, LOLL) August 2012: Moving on to IVF

When I spoke with the assistant prior to her calling in the Rx, she told me I needed to start it on the first day of my cycle. I can confirm that if/when this insurance debacle is handled. Thanks for the info.

well, you were misinformed, because no RE or OB would ever instruct a woman to start progesterone on CD1. It prevents ovulation. It's given for Luteal phase defect, it's aslo given after IUIs for support and after IVFs transfers, it's also given to women who dont have AF to jump start it...so all during the TWW, not before. If you do take it before O, don't be surprise if you suppress your natural ovulation.

I fully agree with tiredofwaiting 2013. Progesterone supplements of any form are being started a couple of days after ovulation. Best wishes and the Lord's blessings.

Thanks for the heads up. I'll see what the Rx says and will definitely question them if the directions say to start on cd 1. I don't know if it was the same girl, but I was told last month that I needed to start 2000 units of vitamin C a day, so I did and it was costly and made me so nauseous. I brought it up with my OB and she told me I was supposed to be taking vitamin D :-/. So, that made a lot more sense. I was puzzled as to why my C was low, but I'm super fair and use sunblock and had been dieting and not getting much if any milk, so it wasn't as odd to have low vitamin D. Like I said, I can't know if it was the same girl, but clearly I've gotten bad instructions before. I've been with this dr since 2010 with no issues until this month.
