First IUI tomm morning bit scared. What to expect?

I got one mature follicle. Took hcg inj yest night. Doc going to do iui after 36hrs after trigger. I am bit confused whether doc is late or too early. How long the washed sperm will b alive in tube? Want to know any success stories and what step did u take after iui. How diff ur iui was?

I did my successful IUI (after 6 other unsuccesful ones) with the same scenario: follicle tracking with 1 good follie, trigger shot, IUI 36 hours later. The sperm will be fine after washing, it lives for a couple hours. The clinic will have it timed to perfection for you. The procedure itself is usually not terribly painful, it is similar to having a pap smear. They will put your hips up for about 10 minutes and then you will be good to go afterward! GL!

The timing for IUI is critical. That's why some doctors prefer to do two IUIs back-to back. Washed sperm lives for up to 24 hours in the reproductive tract at best. Untreated sperm lives up to 5 days, most often for 2-3 days. Therefore, timing is very important and I would consider to bd before and after the IUI to make sure all bases are covered. Your dr should be able to give you guidelines about abstinence before the IUI. My dr likes to see 24 hours of abstinence prior to the giving of the sperm sample.
