Short luteal phase after m/c
I had a m/c in May and am now ttc again. My first cycle afterward didn't seem out of the ordinary, but then I had two cycles of just spotting. That leads me up to last month when I started tracking my cycle using an app. I was unsure of ov day since I wasn't testing or temping, but af came at 26 days from my spotting cycle, which was unusual for me to have a short cycle. The bleeding was highly bizarre and went on for about 8-9 days before stopping abruptly. So, this cycle, I know I ov'd either cd 19 or 20, making me 7 or 8 dpo. Light brown cm began at 4-5 dpo. Today it's a dark pink and 26 days from my last cycle. I feel pretty certain af is going to hit full flow, soon. My temp hasn't dipped, yet. But I'm pretty upset, needless to say. My dr said just a couple weeks ago that everything looked fine in my labs and u/s, but if I confirm such a short luteal phase, should I call and see what can be done? Should I wait and see if it corrects itself? I'm 34, so no spring chicken.

I am sorry for your loss, Paperheart. I am 37 and I had a mc (in Aug). I also noticed short luteal phase after the mc and I was concerned about luteal phase defect. Your cycle can go really crazy/wacky after a mc and your body needs some time to heal and go back to normal.
But if you are concerned, I think you should see your doc with your cycle records to minimise stress and worries.

Thanks, myLittlePeanut. I'm sorry for your loss, as well. It's certainly insult to injury to experience a loss and then struggle to conceive again. AF still hasn't shown, so I'm going to start testing tomorrow and plan on asking for progesterone if I do happen to get a bfp. My last pregnancy started out with bleeding and I was certain I was out, but tested bfp at 9 dpo. The bleeding never really went away and, who knows if it's related, but having lost that baby, I'd like to do something proactive if I do, by some miracle, test positive this cycle.

Sounds like really upset hormones from the mc, you could try something gentle like drinking red clover tea to regulate your cycle. Vitamin B6 can help lengthen a short luteal phase but if yours was not short before it will probably return to normal once your hormones balance out.

Oh paper heart I'm so sorry for your loss. I seen all your questions and the endometriosis can cause brown spotting throughout your cycle and Lf. I really hope you get your bfp soon. And it's a h&h 9 months. I had a friend same thing happen to her and now her son is 2. She was a Chronic spotter. Baby dust and I pray you get your bfp and the spotting stops. Your hormones should go back to normal within 6 months after your mc. I'm 33 a year younger then you. I was actually a nurse before I broke my neck 4 years ago in a car accident I now have 10 screws and rods in my neck. So can't work as a nurse. But I do have medical back ground. That's why I commented on your opk. I know a Broad range of things that can cause stress to the body. A mc in its self can cause stress and change the hormones around. You will be ok and your body will regulate. All the best. Ps I honestly was a registered nurse In Canada. God bless

That's great, alwayshavefaith. I know that, in your mind, you're really wanting to help, but again you're insisting that you know better than me how "stressed" I am with ttc. Honestly, this was my second cycle trying and my first using opk's. I wanted a baseline of info and I got that. You can really and truly let go of your insistence that I'm stressed.

Sorry For trying to help. I'm not saying you are stressed. What I am saying is any stressful event in your life including the heartbreak of a mc, can cause stress to the body. Sorry for trying to help. I don't know you, and I do not know your life style. I also do not know if you are stressed. What I do know is any traumatic event in someone's life can put stress on the body. I don't know how you handled your heart break of your mc. Everyone is different. What I do Know is hormones are triggered in the brain fr stressful events and can through off a cycle. In no way am I trying to be rude or Imply you are stressed out. I really hope that your body regulates soon and you do conceive. Take care. I will not coment on your posts anymore our of respect for you. I can see you would rather me not. All the best
