Negative HPT but positive OPK! Pregnant?
I have a very regular 29 day cycle. I used OPK this month and got a positive on 9/19 and 9/20. Hubby and I had sex 9/16, 9/19, and 9/21. I took a HPT on 9/26 and 9/29 both in the afternoon and both BFN. Took a OPK yesterday and it was a very dark positive line. What are the chances this could actually be a pregnancy sign?

You're either having a second lh surge late in your cycle (common) or you didn't ov with your first surge and your body is giving it another try (probably less common). All an opk does is recognize the presence of lh in your system. And the thing is, there is always some level of it in your body (which is why the test line has to be equal in intensity to the control - it's not about whether or not you have lh, it's about how much. So, the opk detecting the lh isn't unusual. It's also not unusual to have a second surge just before af. All that said, until af shows, there's always a chance you're pg, so the best thing is to wait it out and test again with a pt after a few days.

I understand your excitement because opks will turn positive if pregnant. However, because it could be a second lh surge it's not a guarantee.. I've used the opks before because I didn't have a hpt test at home, and when i got the positive ran out to buy the hpt to know.. I've had both outcomes. Here's hoping yours means a happy 9 months!!

An OPK can confirm pregnancy, but it won't show positive from pregnancy until long after an HPT has already confirmed. I didn't get a positive OPK until I was already 6 weeks along, but I got my BFP at 11DPO.
Like the other ladies have said, it's very common to get another surge of LH toward the end of your cycle.
Good luck :)
