I sing the praises of opk's, temping, and following cm for bd timing. I don't ov on cd 14, but didn't know how late I did until combining those things this cycle. I've successfully gotten pg and had two dc's simply by tracking ewcm, but since a mc in May, it's been a little trickier to judge. We started ttc last cycle and just bd'd during the fertile window my app had me in. No bfp, which meant it was the first time we weren't successful out first cycle trying. What I learned through testing and temping this cycle is that I ov'd on cd 20 (yesterday) and that, since the m/c, my ov symptoms are strikingly similar to early pg symptoms (nausea, vomiting, weepiness, back and pelvic aches mostly). I was just certain I'd get a bfp last month because all those symptoms happened to emerge around a week after when I thought I'd ov'd. So, it was a perfect storm to psych me out. I feel so much less lost this cycle after confirming an ov day and realizing my ov symptoms.

Make sure your baby dancing before you o. Those are your most fertile days. Also, make sure you bd after you think you ovulated (unless you are confirming it will bbt), bc if you o a day or two after you think you did, you may miss the egg. Experts recommend that the fastest way to pregnancy is to bd 2-3 per week, all month long. When we we were TTC #2, we DTD every other day from CD 8-20 based on the fact that I had 27 day cycles. Other than bbt, cm is usually your most reliable sign that o is approaching. I say that bc the month we conceived #2, I never had a positive opk. I didn't temp, but I knew by my cm that o was approaching and when it was over. Remember, you only have a 20-25% chance per cycle if everything is done perfectly, so gl!
