An increase in Progesterone after ovulation is what causes sore breasts and nipples. Sore breasts and nipples can be both a sign of ovulation and an early sign of pregnancy. Unfortunately, there's really no way to tell which your symptoms are indicating until you either miss or start your period.
For me, during my BFP cycles, my nipples were sensitive almost immediately (which was the norm for me) but my breasts didn't start hurting until about a week later on 8DPO. I got my first BFP on 11DPO.
Unfortunately, as I said before, it could mean either. But it's always a good sign, and you're not out until AF shows up!
Good luck and baby dust!
