Facing IVF
Hello,
My husband as low morphology, and the RE is not sure if we will achieve pregnancy without intervention. He is going to do his SCSA sperm test next week, which is a test to see if the sperm can penetrate an egg. If his sperm can't, I feel the only way is IVF. I am starting on femara on Monday. Has anyone else been in a similar situation?

My dh has a very low overall count and low motility and I have pcos. We have been trying for 6 1/2 years. 7 rounds of clomid and 4 iui's all resulted in nothing before we finally moved on to ivf. Now we are on our 6th ivf attempt. 3 ivf rounds at least resulted in pregnancies which never happened with clomid or iui but I lost them all before 6 weeks. It looks like there are definitely more issues with me on top of the mfi and pcos. If you are just dealing with mfi then ivf is a great option. I only did iui because it was covered by insurance even though it probably wouldn't work. I would suggest not wasting the time and going straight to ivf and be prepared mentally for a pretty long journey just in case it doesn't work right away.

I'm sorry, that would be hard. The only known factor is with my hubby, my tubes are open. The other hormone tests have come back normal. Nothing is covered by insurance, so we would have to through a financing company. I'm scared to go through IVF. It's a lot of injectable hormones, and money. How do you prepare yourself every month? How do you deal with not having that positive pregnancy test? It's getting to be too much for me.

Hey, I was a surrogate this past year and delivered a baby in January. Because it was an artificial pregnancy I had to do estrogen patches and luring and progesterone shots. I know every fertility clinic has different protocol, but I worked with NW fertility in Seattle Washington. They are a really good clinic. They have one of the top embryologists in the country. They had me do progesterone five days prior to my transfer whereas some have you do it after the transfer. I got pregnant first time with a single embryo transfer. Granted I don't have fertility problems but they told me that progesterone is what makes your uterus sticky so the embryo will attach. The idea with me was to "pre stickify" my uterus rather than making it sticky after the embryo has already been transferred. I would suggest asking to do it that way! Don't worry the shots aren't so bad. Your butt will get sore but they get to be routine and you won't mind. Good luck!
