I had early bleeding last cycle (which has absolutely never happened for me). It started light, but picked up pretty quickly and was basically just a very odd period all the way around. I do wonder if it was a chemical that my cheapo tests never picked up. I dunno. I happened to already have an appointment with my ob set with an u/s and all things looked good to go, so I'll never know for sure why it happened. I do seem to be o'ing on schedule this cycle, at least, so if this turns out to be af for you, hopefully you'll resume your regular cycle, too.
