Question

Cramping at 5 weeks pregnant. Is this normal?

This is my first pregnancy and so I really have no clue what to expect. The last few days I have been cramping on my left side, (its not horrible cramping, just light.) No bleeding either. I'm just curious is this normal? Is something wrong?

It is very normal! Your uterus starts to expand almost immediately to prepare for it's guest that will be there the next 9 mos, so unless you start bleeding, don't worry. With my first, I was cramping so severely, I made my hubby take me to the er at 4 AM. She's 3 now. :) Congratulations!

Cramping is completely normal. It may be round ligament stretching or cramping from implantation. I had cramping throughout my entire first trimester with my first pregnancy and intermittent cramping with subsequent pregnancies. Do make sure you're getting enough fluids as dehydration can cause cramping and, eventually, bigger problems. But if you feel like something is "off," don't feel bad for putting in a call to your dr for reassurance and guidance.
