Question

Luteal Phase too short?

Hi There,

I ovulate on CD 15ish and only have a 24 or 25 day cycle. That puts my Luteal phase at 9-10 days. Is that enough time to achieve implantation?

Thanks,
Marissa

I am currently doing fertility treatments. My luteal phase is between 10 and 11 days which is on the short side. Both of my drs who are teaching at university programs agree that a lp of 10 days is sufficient for conceiving without adding progesterone supplements. I have heard conflicting information on this subject, however, I trust what both of the experts I am dealing with are telling me. Now, because we are spending already so much money on medications and tests we started adding progesterone one day after ovulation to give it all a final boost. If it makes you feel better request progesterone supplements from your dr. It can't hurt. Best wishes and the Lord's blessings.

You could try taking vitamin B6. Suggested usage is 50mg up to 100mg daily. Make sure to use B6 in conjunction with a B complex or multivitamin to avoid causing imbalances. 12 days is supposed to be the magic number but we wouldn't all be the same

Thanks so much for your help! I really appreciate your input. It's good to hear there are treatments to help me if I struggle. I am about to leave the country so I'll ask my OBGYN about progesterone when I go in November. In the meantime I will try the B6 to see if I can extend it on my own. I also read about Vitex. Anyone else heard of this?

I have heard of vitex in the context of regulating irregular cycles. However, just recently a friend of mine was told by her acupuncturist that vitex can be used to extend the luteal phase. This is new to me.

Sounds like Vitex would be perfect for me then! I have ordered some and can't wait to see if they help! :) Thank you all so much!
