Question

Pregnant women going to the dentist!?

Hello ladies!! Hope all is well! As of tomorrow I will be 16 weeks pregnant, I've been debating for the past 9 weeks (since I found out I was pregnant) should I go to the dentist to get my annually cleaning and whiting??? Is it safe to do so for the baby or is this something I should consult with my doctor?

Yes, cleaning is fine but ask about whitening. U definitely want to take care of any cleanings and cavities now, if u end up with any infections etc, it can end up in ur blood and reach baby. I had all my cleanings and tooth repairs done before third tri. My dentist didnt want to do any fillings during that time unless absolutely necessary. Make an appt and just make sure to let them know ur pregnant, they know what can and cant be done.

Second trimester is a great time to go to the dentist, cleaning is fine but check about the whitening. Also good to get any cavities filled to prevent infection and having to take antibiotics. I had a filling done at 18 weeks but asked for the anesthetic without adrenalin in it. I'm now 21 weeks and bubs is still kicking about as normal ;)
