Question

4 months no AF, pretty sure it's because I'm overweight- should I just lose weight and skip the doc?

My last AF was May 3rd, in a few days it will have been 4 months with no AF. All preg tests negative and not experiencing symptoms. I know it's because I am obese. Should I just try to lose the weight and then go see a doc if my period does not return? I lost 25pounds last summer and my periods were the most regular they've ever been. I gained it back and now nothing. I don't want to pay to see a doc and have him run tests just to be told I'm fat- I'd rather get rid of that factor first and then see if there is really a problem. Has anyone else been in a similar situation? What did you do? What do you wish you had done?

I lost 60lbs last spring and got prego a month later. Healthy is important rather than weight

Being overweight can negatively impact your fertility, no question. Sometimes, however, it is connected to an additional problem like PCOS. I would start losing weight now and plan on seeing a doctor soon also. You want to make sure you are not suffering another condition that makes conceiving difficult or impossible. All the best.
