Blood tests: how soon and how accurate?
Hello, my name is Lauren. I'm 26 and in a bit of pickle. I should preface this question with the fact that I was not trying to get pregnant when my fiance' and I experienced an "intimate moment" 3 days before I ovulated. Prior to that I was a virgin.
My last cycle began Aug 11 and I ovulated Aug 25, So when could I go to my doctor for a blood test and how accurate are the results? I don't want to wait to miss my period and my fiance' is extremely worried about me. We have plans to get married and would never dream of abortion. We just need to know if I am pregnant so that plans can be adjusted from there.
We would both be thrilled if we are pregnant...I wish I could say the same for my parents.

memberYou could go in for a blood test probably at 12 DPO and expect fairly accurate results, but honestly you could take an HPT at 14 DPO (only two days longer) with a good deal of accuracy as well. Blood pregnancy tests usually aren't covered by insurance and cost well over $!00, while you can get a decent home urine test for a buck or two. GL!

you have to wait until you have implanted which is usually 7-12 days after you have ovulated. You have to let nature take it's course before you will know anything
Sit back and relax, try not to worry. in 7 days ask your doc to do a blood test as will pick up pregnancy before a HPT x

I'd agree mostly with luvtowalkfast... Basically 15dpo a blood test or HPT will be as equally accurate. You might be able to get a blood test from your general practitioner for just the price of your co-pay so id check on that. Just remember when you have sex the first time it can cause your cycle to be alittle off even if you aren't pregnant. Good luck!!!!
