I've done IUI 7 times, because we had mild male factor issues (kinda low sperm count/motility). The first 5 times were through my gynecologist, and they honestly had no clue what they were doing (they had to use a tenaculum every time, which hurt awfully and made me nearly pass out a time or two). Finally got a referral to a great RE and got pregnant on my second IUI cycle there. If you are planning to do IUI I would highly recommend doing it through an RE rather than an OB/GYN. It costs a bit more but it's worth it. They may also want to monitor your follicles which costs additional money but it's nice to know for sure when you ovulate and make sure the timing is perfect. GL! :)

This month has been my 4th IUI cycle through a RE. It helps us a lot with the timing and in terms of "logistics" in our case. I have wondered though how long the washed sperm really lives. I have read that it has a shorter life span than unwashed sperm. Therefore, it is important that the IUI is scheduled at the right time. I recommend back-to-back insemination for best coverage. Best wishes and the Lord's blessings.
