It is common and normal to ovulate on different CDs each month. The follicular phase (before ovulation) can be longer or shorter. The luteal phase (after ovulation) tends to stay about the same length. Some months I ovulate on CD 9, other months as late as CD 13. There are lots of variations, so tell your friend to not be worried about it, it is absolutely normal. All the best.

The luteal phase will stay about the same length, ~ 6 days in her case. Now with a lp that short it is next to impossible to become pregnant. She should be taking progesterone supplements to lengthen it to at least 12 days. Implantation occurs most often between 7-11 days after ovulation. With an lp of only 6 days there is barely a chance for implantation. Hope this helps.
