Question

Faint Line on HPT = HPT HCG Threshold Met or Not?

I know each HPT has their own sensitivity level in detecting HCG. I know it depends on what time of day you test and what day you test in order to get a dark line. But if your HPT comes up with a faint but clear positive and that test's sensitivity for detecting HCG is 50mIUs - is your beta level around 50 or is it more than that because you can see a line?

It's impossible to know for sure because most tests will turn positive much below their posted threshold. For example, I've had a positive FRER with a blood test hcg of 8.

Thank you - I guess the only way to know for sure is to have your blood tested at the doc's office. I've gone through a year of ttc with infertility treatment (2 yrs total) and had one prior pregnancy that ended prematurely at 13 weeks. They constantly check your hcg levels at the fertility clinic if you have a positive test at the end of your tww. I very clearly remember the stress of the constant beta testing. I guess there's no avoiding it.
