Actually it is both. My sister grows gradually and you can notice but somewhat not notice. As for I, my stomach was flat as board until 7 months and then it just was there, all baby of course. Some people barely even grow a stomach through the whole 9 months.

The uterus is tucked down behind your pubic bone, so typically, until a certain point, it stays tucked and then all of the sudden pops up. Although for 2nd pregnancies, everything has already been loosened up, so women usually show a bit earlier.

This is my 4th pregnancy, I have one healthy 2 year old. And I haven't started to show or even notice anything. I am nearly 10 weeks in to pregnancy. It just depends tbh

Tbh, it's different for everyone and every pregnancy. My first was showing around wk 16-ish and my second (bare stomach) was around 23-24wks...longer if u gauge it with clothes on. There are just so many factors involved, # of pregnancies, # of babies in there, how fast u/baby(s) gains, abdominal condition, ur height/weight to begin with. Ultimately, until the uterus rises past the pubic bone (10-12wks), all u would be seeing would be bloating and organ shift...not the actual uterus. It'll pop eventually, dont be one of those belly pushers who thinks they popped at 6-8wks, it looks funny and most of us know its complete BS.
