Question

Has anyone been prescribed progesterone after consecutive miscarriages?

I had a miscarriage 8/13 at almost 6 weeks and another 5/14 at 5 and a half weeks. My doctor said that as soon as I get a BFP he will start me on progesterone. He said he doesn't feel like that's the issue but that we will try it just in case since it cannot hurt. He did labs to see if I have a clotting disorder and they came back normal. I have always had a very regular cycle and never any issues. I do have a pelvic kidney and am curious if that has something to do with it. My main question is for those who have taken progesterone. What can I expect?

Are you taking it orally or is it a suppository? It gets kind of gross, lots of CM if it's a suppository. Also put it in while laying down, the little thing will fall out. But despite all that, I was more optimistic that I wouldn't miscarry, and I didn't. It gave me some peace. Good luck,.

In the past I have been on progesterone injections and Lovenox to prevent further miscarriages. The progesterone injections are painful but way less of a mess then the vaginal inserts.

I am on progesterone because of a short luteal phase and repeated (8 and counting) chemical pregnancies. I do the crinone gel suppository, which is a little different than the tablets (like prometrium or endometrin). I start it 2 days after ovulation and continue until 14 days after ovulation when I take a pregnancy test. If pregnant, I continue the crinone until 10 weeks. If not pregnant, I discontinue it and get my period a couple of days later and start again.

Progesterone is responsible for the vast majority of the PMS and pregnancy symptoms. Fatigue, nausea, sore breasts, constipation, cramps, dizziness, blue veins, etc., etc. I don't get the same symptoms in the same strength each month, it's usually a random combination. Fun stuff!

Good luck!
