When if at all did you get side effects from metformin?
I have been on 500mg of metformin for 3 days now. I go up to 1000mg on Tuesday. I haven't had any side effects yet and want to know if it takes longer for them to start. I'm hoping this is a good sign that my side effects won't be that bad.

I had really bad digestive side effects pretty much right away all 3 times I tried it but I have ibs to start with. I tried to sticking with it because as you keep taking it and find a good dose the side effects are supposed to stop...they didn't for me. It's a good sign that you don't have side effects yet. I even started at 250mg to try to ease in. If you do get side effects there are other versions to try like extended release and glumetza which is the brand name version. Both of those were better for me but I still couldn't stick with it.
