Congratulations!! I would definitely recommend scheduling an appointment with your OBGYN. The first trimester is a very critical period for your baby. That being said I would recommend going to CVS/Walgreens/local pharmacy and getting an OTC prenatal supplement if they don't have it even a regular multi-vitamin will do just make sure it has FOLIC ACID in it. This is a very important vitamin/nutrient that the baby needs to prevent neural tube defects which can be fatal (not trying to scare you there's just a lot of people that don't realize how important folic acid is!!) Other than that relax and take care of yourself!! Best Wishes!!

You need between 800-1000 MCG of folic acid during pregnancy, esp the first trimester. Most OTC prenatal will have at least 800. During the first few weeks of pregnancy, folic acid helps prevent spinal & brain defects, so it is important that you start them today. Also, go ahead & call your OB to set up your first appt. However, don't be surprised if they do not see you until 8 wks or so. Unless you have a history of complications, that is the norm. Congratulations!
