No, you can't take laxatives during pregnancy as they contain stimulants that could be dangerous to the baby. However, you can take stool softeners (colace) & certain fiber supplements. Also, increase your water intake. Your OB should be able to give you a list of specific brands that are safe. But general laxatives are a no no when pregnant.

K, here's whatcha wanna do. Get urself some magnesium, none of the cheap stuff like mag oxide or citrate, get the good stuff (glycinate or malate). U want 300-400mg per day, everyday. The majority of ppl are deficient in this mineral and it is one of the most abundant within the body and in charge of hundreds of processes...digestion being just one. From O until cd1, I couldnt poop to save my life. I drink water like the lakes are running dry, so it had nothing to do with hydration, just hormones slowin' sh*t down to a snail-like pace. I started taking that (ty Dr. Oz) about a yr before I got my BFP. I have been constipated once and for one day (ty tylenol 3). I'm 35wks preg and poop like a champ. Seeing as Mg is a bodily requirement, it is also 110% baby-safe provided u stay under the 400mg. Laxatives like MOM, have Mg as the main ingredient...coincidence? I think not!! Give mag a try and stay away from laxatives. Start at 300 and move up if needed. Take after a meal too.
