Question

Help! First timer: How to use OPK dip strips?

I ordered Wondfo OPK dip strips, but they didn't come with instructions. What time of the day should I test? Should I test several times a day? Any tips on identifying a positive? I currently use the CB Fertility Monitor, you can only test once a day and there's no reading of lines. So using dip strips will be completely new for me. Thank you in advance for any help!

I would test several times a day (after a 3 hour hold) when you're nearing your anticipated ovulation date. They're super cheap, so no reason not to. Just pee in a cup, dip the strip for 3-5 seconds, and then lay it flat on a non-absorbent surface to read it after a couple of minutes. The line farthest away from where you dipped the stick is the control line, the one closest to the pee is the test line. You always have some LH in your system, so you may see a light second line no matter when you test, but it is only positive if the test line is as dark as or darker than the control line.

I use those too. I don't donthe 3 hours hold. I think it says 1.5 hours of hold is ok too and you can also use first morning urine but make sure to test again that day if it's negative. You deep them for 3 seconds.

Mine get wide test lines right before getting positive so I know it's coming and test a few times that day and the next. I have pictures of a positive one on my profile if you want to see.

Everything I have read suggests testing in the afternoon and evening for optimal results BUT some women's LH surge, which the test is picking up, will occur quicker than others. Meaning, you could go from a negative to positive OPK in one day as opposed to have a day or two of positive OPKs. This has regularly happened with me that's why tests like Wondo are great because you can watch the line get thicker and darker. Therefore, testing in the am, afternoon and evening can be beneficial. It all depends on how aggressive you want to be. I usually test once a day and get a pretty good idea when I am going to ovulate. Just experiment and see what works best for you, especially since the suckers are rather cheap!
