Question

Chemical pregnancy and hcg levels

On Monday I had a faint positive test. Later in the day I started bleeding like AF. Pretty sure it was a chemical, I had a blood test 2 days later and the nurse said my hcg was less than 1. My question is do nonpregnant women produce any hcg? Was I even pregnant to begin with or can hcg fall that rapidly?

Could be either or.....you could have been producing HCG...but it resulted in a chemical pregnancy and the HCG never got very high before it started to fall.

The test result could have also been a faulty test, due to chemical PG, indent line, or evap line.

Supposedly some women have some degree of HCG in their blood. Personally..mine is always 2 or 3. Blood PG tests are not considered BFPs until over 15 in most cases. It may be higher or lower depending on what sensitivity your lab checks for.....

I have had a chemical in the past, at 5 weeks my hcg was only 50. Three days later I started bleeding heavily and that evening my hcg levels were back to <5. I don't think you are considered being pregnant unless your hcg levels are >25. Hope this helps xo
