When I was pg with my son, I actally found out because of a trip to the er due to rapid heart rate. After I learned the good news I was told that it happens during pregnancy and usually due to dehydration. The doctor also suggested that if it happened again I should bear down briefly, and get fluids in me. Btw, my dehydration was not because of morning sickness, I never really got it, it just happened. I say get plenty of fluid and rest, if it continues to be bothersome, make an appt. Good luck and congrats!

The increased levels of progesterone changes your cardiovascular system & the rate at which you breathe. It is perfectly normal. I constantly gasp for air when I'm pregnant. As your body begins to adapt to you being pregnant, your blood volume increases, your heart rate increases due to the stress, & your lungs have to work harder to oxygenate all that blood. You're just seeing the beginning stages off all that. Congrats!
