Question

how can i figure out when i ovulate just from a calendar?

I know I'm being stupid about this, but all the online calculators just give a week long window and I want to pinpoint the day. I've tried OPKs for the first time this month and got nothing. Haven't tracked CM yet but might do next month.

The witch arrived on April 29 (it was a 26 day cycle, but usually I'm 28). We BDed yesterday, Saturday and then either Weds or Thurs last week (can't remember!). He believes that babies will just come along sometime, and I'm in the market for being a little more proactive about it! I guess my question is, should I go get some fancy underwear out again either today or tomorrow?!! This is our third month TTC (we have a 3 yr old DS).

Thanks ladies!

How long did you test with OPKs? If you stopped too early, you might have missed the surge. It's best to keep testing until you get a surge. You might want to consider trying a different brand next cycle. Another thing you could do it take BBTs. This is the most accurate way of determining ovulation (although I was never disciplined enough to do it myself, I used OPKs). Unfortunately a calendar is not always the most reliable method to determine ovulation because it's based on averages and you don't know if you actually ovulated during that time. But you can always BD again today and tomorrow. Nothing wrong with doing that;-)

If you generally are on a 28 day cycle you most likely ovulated yesterday (May 12th). If you are going to run a 26 cycle again this month then you most likely ovulated Sat (May 10th). I would BD again tonight just in case you did ovulate yesterday (An egg generally lives for a maximum of 24 hrs). Then you should be good to give yourself a break! These estimates are based on a 14 day luteal period. That means the time from ovulation to period is 14 days. Even women with irregular periods generally have consistent luteal phases. For me, my cycles can run anywhere between 26-39 days, but my luteal phase is always 14 days. When i first started TTC I used OPKs and BBT, but after a few cycles I got to know the signs my body was giving me well enough that I didn't need those tools anymore. For me I get puffy nipples about 2-3 days before ovulation, my cervix gets so high I can't touch it and also egg white CM. Then about 24 hours after ovulation my nipple get super sore and sensitive.
