Vaginal scan - no heart beat then normal scan clear as day heart beat!?
Hi everyone, I went for a check up today measure ing at 8 weeks. The midwife started with a vaginal scan, thought this was odd but went along with it. She couldn't get a clear image and couldn't no detect a heart beat. Basically was telling us doesn't look good, and a missed miscarriage has happened again. She then just to see if there was a clearer image for dating she did the usually tummy scan and as clear as day was a heart beat!.... Huge relief ..... If this something to be worried about or could it be maybe a hidden twin? Has anyone else had a simular experience?

memberI have never had great results with vagina scans. Any type of scan results are going to depend on the skill of the person doing them. I have had two different people do an u/s for me the same day and one was able to gather information the other tech could not. Hope my experience is helpful to you. Congratulations!

Just an update, spoke to another scan tech ( don't know what you really call them!) and he informs me that as vaginal scans are better they are only better when the tech has got a very good technique. The only reason she probably didn't find it was because I also have a slightly tilted uterus with this pregnancy. :) so can rest my mind now. I wish you all good luck on your journeys. X
